Sudhir Mittal Moves To GSPC As Corporate IT/SAP Chief

Sudhir Mittal, has moved on to join Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) as the company’s Corporate IT/SAP Chief after a 10 year stint with Samtel. Mittal was serving as Group CIO at Samtel when he moved to GSPC.

GSPC is an energy conglomerate spearheading the energy business in the state of Gujarat. Over the last few years the GSPC group has characteristically been responsible for several milestones in the hydrocarbon sector. Mittal has almost three decades of experience spanning across diverse verticals. When asked about his responsibilities and focus areas at GSPC, Mittal mentioned that he plans on making significant SAP and open source solution implementations in his new role. As Group CIO for the Samtel Group, Mittal played a vital role in implementing SAP practices for the entire group. Additionally, he played a key role in building the company’s complete IT infrastructure on open source solutions.

An alumnus from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Mittal started his career as a computer scientist at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, following which he worked with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) as Deputy Manager (Information Technology). During his eight year stint with NTPC he managed the IT activities at the Singrauli Super Thermal Power Station and the Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Project for the development and implementation of commercial and plant maintenance systems.

Mittal also headed IT and ERP at Grasim Industries between 1994 and 1998 during which he implemented processes and procedures to support the textiles business and implementation plan. He was also associated with Reliance Industries as Head (MIS) for a period of four years. Prior to joining Samtel, Mittal served a two year stint as Group CIO with Pantaloon Retail India.
