Mediation and
Communication Skill Training
By Susan Castner
Do you sometimes struggle to find the most effective way to express yourself?
Do you either end up in a fight or just walk away? If the answers to these
questions are yes, this course will provide you with new skills to help
navigate those disturging moments. You will learn how to get your point
across with clarity, and without insulting judging or patronizing the other
person.
This training focuses on mediating conflict, teaching communication skills
and learning the formal mediation process.
Through a variety of humorous exercises and role-plays, participants learn
how to create a win/win situation in their employment relationships, using
new skills that allow them:
- to hear and acknowledge another person's perspective
- to express concerns and interests in a non-threatening way
- to engender cooperation from others
- to resolve their differences in a way that allows all participants to maintain
control and dignity while creating meaningful solutions
With the help of two participants, we will use the modern verson of:
Jack and the Beanstalk
(a potential employment opportunity) to demonstrate the mediation process.
Participants will also mediate the following disputes
The Case of the Cashew Tree
(a business dispute between
Archie Bunker and Al Bundy)
and
Murphy Brown Unleashed
(the story of an overbearing supervisor)
Training can be tailored to the circumstances and needs of the individual
or organization.
