The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India or TRAI wants to make your television viewing a better consumer experience - more content, less advertising. It has notified that broadcasters can only have 12 minutes of advertising per one hour. This in effect means that inventory on channels is as good as halved - and as broadcasters say is a huge strain on their overly dependent on advertising revenue model. Not quite as simply done as it sounds then. Pavni Mittal reports that broadcasters will have no choice but to appeal against the TRAI notification.
